“Choosing the
right” can be done in all sorts of forms and sizes. Small
gestures like cleaning after yourself and avoiding your parents getting
irritated by mess is one way. Other forms may be saying “no” to someone who
wants to cheat off your test. If you
have spare change in your pocket, you can give it to someone in need out in the
streets. There are many
things you, as an individual can do not only for yourself, but for the good for
others as well.
In school: Go to class on
time. Take notes to review for tests and actually try to learn something. If
you eat during nutrition or lunch, throw away your trash. Avoid talking back to
elders of your mates. Doing so may result getting into trouble. Consequences
may be those of bad grades or conferences with parents and discuss the options,
like moving schools and whatnot. If you have free time during class, ask your
teacher whether it is fine to work on your homework if you have any. Make sure
to finish it, grades will lower every time you don’t turn in assignments or
turn them incomplete. Doing homework and passing tests will typically help you
pass classes. If you fail any class, you will have to make it up; on your free
time. Not passing may also result to the inability of not graduating on time. Also,
tutor your classmates who need help in any subject.
At home: Don’t
wait until your parents tell you what to do. Tidy up around your house. Do your
share. If you have younger siblings, help them out with their homework or play
with them. If you own a dog, care for him. Feed him, bathe him and take him out
for walks. Be honest to your family at all times. If you have “problems” at
home, don’t go around telling people, especially if things aren’t as bad as
they seem.
In the streets: Do not talk to
strangers. If they offer you anything, don’t take it. If you see older kids
messing around with a younger kid, tell them to stop. If you see someone drop a
wallet or left behind a purse, do not look through it or take anything from it.
Simply return it to its rightful owner.
Simple things like these, simple forms of choosing the right, help you
stay out of trouble and become a better person. It allows people to know you’re
a good person and you’re willing to make life easier for you and for the people
you love, or simply the people around you. Keep a positive and open mind!
