"Seek to
do good and you will find that happiness will run after you."
{James Freeman Clarke}
What
exactly is "happiness"? Many individuals let themselves be taken
forth with the idea that "happiness" is either something
materialistic or some kind of gift that the "gods" will grant them.
I, in the other hand, simply feel as though happiness is merely a mood and
state of mind. With all do respect to Mr. Clarke, a television set won't hop on
shoes and run after you. Obviously, if I visit my grandmother, which is
something one can say is "doing good", then I'll feel happy.
I want to believe that happiness isn't
something to look forward to, but rather something that will come naturally. It
isn't a destination or a place like 'heaven' where everything is going to be
joyous and free of sorrow and suffering. No. It is quite acceptable to feel
happy one day, and a little upset the next.
