RE: Marion Jones Olympic Cheater

Marion Jones, star track-and-field champion of the Sydney Olympics wasn't really a champion. After many years denying it, she confessed her great performance was due to steroids. At the courthouse, Jones said, "It's with a great amount of shame that I stand before you and tell you that I betrayed your trust." They all believed she had a good chance of winning the entire thing, she had the package in her hand. It is believed that it was one of the hardest falls in American sports history.
If Jones was so good as they all thought she was, wouldn't that have been a motivation? There was no use in engaging with illegal substances, and clearly, not worth her career.
